Why customers choose M.A Cranes

A Franna is a pick and carry crane. It lifts on its wheels instead of setting up on outriggers, and it articulates in the middle, so it steers into places a fixed-chassis crane simply can’t reach. Down a residential driveway, through a factory roller door, into a warehouse or a basement carpark, it picks the load up and carries it to where it’s going. No set-up footprint, no ground bearing pressure calculations, and no waiting around while a bigger machine gets rigged.

Low overhead clearance is where a Franna really earns its keep. Warehouses, awnings, carparks, steel already in place overhead, it tucks in underneath and keeps working where a slew crane’s boom won’t fit. We lift for just about everyone: builders and steel fabricators, factories and workshops, arborists, pool and landscape companies, roofers, sign writers, transport operators, farmers, strata managers and plenty of homeowners who just need one heavy thing moved. And if a job is beyond what a 20 or 25 tonne Franna can do safely, we’ll tell you and organise a slew crane rather than leave you chasing one.

01.

Efficiency and productivity on site

Pick and carry means the load moves with the machine. No second lift, no re-rigging halfway across the site, no crew standing around waiting on a crane that can’t move.

02.

Sincere, and always on time

If we say seven, we’re there at seven. You get straight answers on what the machine will and won’t do, before you book rather than after.

03.

All lifting gear professionally tagged

Slings, chains, shackles and spreader bars come with the crane, every item professionally tagged and recorded on our lifting register. Nothing goes on the hook that isn’t in date.

04.

Freight access and unloading

Containers, floats and delivery trucks unloaded on site. If it’s arrived on the back of a truck and needs to come off, we can handle it.

05.

Set up for any site

Insurances, SWMS, operator tickets, service reports and plant compliance all current and ready to send. Major commercial projects, factories, warehouses, farms or a suburban backyard, the paperwork meets whatever the site asks for.

06.

We take pride in the work

Two machines, both owner operated and properly maintained. We’re not a yard pushing units out the gate, we’re the blokes running the cranes.

Frequently asked questions

Anything not covered here, ring 0434 162 104 and ask.

Is the operator included?

Yes. All hire is wet hire, so the machine comes with a ticketed operator and a qualified dogman. You don’t need to pull anyone off your crew to sling loads or direct the lift.

What's the minimum hire?

Most jobs are booked as a minimum of four hours, including travel to and from site.

How much notice do you need?

A few days is ideal, but we hold slots for short-notice work and can often cover same-day or next-day. Ring rather than email if it’s urgent.

Can you send insurance and safety docs?

Certificates of currency, SWMS, load charts, operator tickets, current service reports and our lifting register all go out before we mobilise. We work across every type of site, from major commercial projects through to factories, warehouses, farms and backyards, so if your site manager needs everything uploaded to a portal, just tell us which one.

Which crane will I need?

It comes down to the weight of the load and how far the crane has to reach. Tell us both and we’ll pick the machine, and for anything you’re unsure about we’ll come out and do a site inspection so the right crane is allocated before the day. If neither of ours will do it safely, we’ll organise a slew crane for you.

Do you work weekends?

Yes, by arrangement. Weekend and night work is common for road, rail, retail and factory jobs where daytime access isn’t possible.

What's the difference between a Franna and a slew crane?

A slew crane sets up in one spot and gives you more reach and height. A Franna picks the load up and drives it to where it goes, which suits jobs where the lift has to move, access is tight, or overhead clearance is limited. If your job needs a slew crane rather than a Franna, we can organise one for you.

Do you service my area?

We’re based in Parramatta and cover all of Sydney metro, from the CBD out to Penrith and down through the Sutherland Shire.

What access does the crane need?

The AT-20 is 2.5m wide and the MAC-25 SL is 2.72m, so both will fit through a standard driveway or a factory roller door. Because they articulate in the middle they turn in far less space than a rigid truck, and they work under low overheads where a slew crane’s boom won’t fit. If you’re not sure it will fit, send us a photo from the street or we’ll come out and do a site inspection before the day.
